About the Event
The EBRAINS Summit 2025 will bring together the neuroscience community for four days of scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation. The event will feature a scientific conference with leading experts, a public day to engage with the wider community, a poster session, and a science market exhibition. Attendees will also have networking opportunities to connect with peers and leaders in brain research.
The programme will showcase how EBRAINS’ research infrastructure, digital tools and services are being actively used to advance neuroscience and drive innovation. Through real-world examples, attendees will explore how these resources support digital neuroscience research, with sessions covering topics such as AI and its connections to neuroscience, brain medicine, neuromorphic computing, and more.
The EBRAINS Summit 2025 partners with the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) to support the shared mission of both organisations, in particular to facilitate FAIR data management and to collaborate across borders in Europe and beyond. Following the Summit, INCF will host its annual Assembly at the same venue, offering additional opportunities for engagement and collaboration.
The EBRAINS Summit will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from 8-11 December 2025.
Call for Submissions
The EBRAINS Summit Programme Committee and the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) invite researchers interested in open neuroscience to submit high quality abstracts to the EBRAINS Summit 2025. Accepted abstracts will grant researchers the opportunity to present their work during the EBRAINS Summit, providing a valuable learning experience for all attendees. Presentations can be submitted to one of two formats: poster presentations, or live demonstrations. As the space for live demonstrations is limited, assignments might be changed depending on the content and evaluation of the submission.
Topics and areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Applications of AI to neuroscience research
- BCI
- Brain disorders
- Brain modelling and simulation
- Clinical neuroscience
- Closing the discovery loop and digital twins
- Cognitive neuroscience
- Computational neuroscience
- Computing systems /HPC
- Connectomics
- Data standards and reproducibility
- Digital atlasing
- FAIR neuroscience
- Genomics and genetics
- Infrastructure and portal services
- Neuroimaging
- Neuroinformatics
- Neuromorphic engineering
- Technologies for large-scale computation
- Visualisation
- Medical analystics
- Gender and diversity in neuroscientific research
The selection committee will award a prize to the two best abstracts in two categories. (I) Neuroscientific and medical research, (II) Methodological developments, technology and applications of AI in neuroscience . The winners will have the opportunity to present their research to the audience of the Summit in a 10-minute plenary talk.
Important Dates
Abstract Submission Deadline | 28 August 2025, 12:00 pm CEST |
Notifications of acceptance | 8 October 2025 |
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts must be submitted in a Word document format, have to adhere to the conference submission template and must be organised according to the IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion). Acceptance will be strictly based on scientific content and infrastructure relevance. Abstracts which are unethical, incomplete, or contain insufficient data will not be accepted.
Please note that registration for the Summit is mandatory upon abstract acceptance in order to present a contribution. If you have registered prior to the acceptance of your abstract, please note that cancellation policy noted in the event registration process still applies.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts should be submitted only if convincing results have already been obtained. Figures and tables showing results are helpful to the reader. If the abstract focuses on a software tool, it must showcase a novel tool, features, or application.
- Experimental reports should include relevant data such as number of subjects studied or statistical information, as appropriate.
- Ensure that your methods and results sections provide enough detail for readers to clearly understand the data collected and the findings observed. For example, where appropriate please include information on data acquisition, data processing, quantitative results and statistics, etc. Specifically, if the study involves data from human or non-human subjects, specify the number of subjects tested along with their demographics (e.g., sex, age). Additionally, when reporting results, include effect sizes whenever possible.
- Please accurately include all co-authors and their affiliations. If in doubt whether a person’s contributions should or should not be considered as authorship, please refer to http://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf .
- Abstracts must be submitted in a Word document format and adhere to the Summit’s submission template. The abstract word and character limits are as follows:
- Title: max. 100 characters
- Authors and affiliations
- Abstract text in IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion): max. 4,000 characters (including spaces)
- Number of Figures: max. 2 figures, include a brief caption for each figure
- References: A maximum of 10 references, AMA format is preferred, include DOI
- Keywords: Indicate up to ten keywords to best describe your research area and/or its application
- No Supplementary Material
- Acknowledgments should be added to the abstract, but are not included in the word count. Abstracts on results from EBRAINS-funded research groups must contain the EC funding acknowledgments.
Abstract selection and best abstract award
Evaluation Process
The selection committee will evaluate the abstracts based on the following criteria:
- Scientific excellence (quality of research question, methods, clarity; appropriate consideration of gender and sex dimension, if applicable)
- Impact for the research area (potential to advance knowledge or address key challenges)
- Contribution to open neuroscience, and/or to the development of the EBRAINS Research Infrastructure and its use-cases
Abstract award
The selection committee will award a prize to the two best abstracts in two categories. (I) Neuroscientific and medical research, (II) Methodological developments, technology and applications of AI in neuroscience . The winners will have the opportunity to present their research to the audience of the Summit in a 10-minute plenary talk.
