CALL FOR PAPERS
VARSE 2025
The Third International Workshop on Virtual and Augmented Reality Software Engineering
Seoul, South Korea
In conjunction with the 40th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE 2025)
November 16–20, 2025
INTRODUCTION
The Third International Workshop on Virtual and Augmented Reality Software Engineering (VARSE 2025) aims to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing in the areas of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) and software engineering, as well as to nurture a growing research community.
VR and AR are emerging technologies with promising applications across gaming, education, communication, healthcare, and beyond. Major technology companies—including Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Meta—are investing heavily in these areas, while platforms such as Unity, ARCore, ARKit, and Meta for Developers have enabled thousands of VR/AR applications.
VR/AR software development brings unique challenges, such as graphics design and performance optimization, 3D asset management, testing under physical-world constraints (for AR), and enhanced privacy requirements. At the same time, VR/AR opens new opportunities for software engineering practice itself, for example, immersive 3D code visualization and VR-based IDEs.
VARSE 2025 invites both academic and industrial contributions to advance the state of the art and practice in VR/AR software engineering. The workshop aims to provide a forum for industry to present real-world challenges and for academia to share solutions and findings with potential for broad impact.
